Newfoundland and Labrador has over 60% of North America's best Atlantic salmon rivers, with some having annual runs of up to 30,000 fish. There are 15 known wild Atlantic salmon rivers here in Western Newfoundland. Angling season runs from June to September with fall angling (catch and release only) up to October on the Humber. Our location allows us to take you to some of the greatest angling in the world. Let our local experienced guides take you to some of the greatest fishing the world has to offer.
Anglers should bring:
Rods and chest waders, hip boots, fishing vest, rain gear.
The equipment you will need when coming to this part of Newfoundland is a fly rod usually in the 8 - 9 weight category. Large reels are recommended with smooth drags. These are needed due to the hard fighting abilities of the Atlantic Salmon. Regulations dictate that only floating lines be used and no weight be used on the line, leader, or in the fly.
Some fly patterns that generally provide a successful day fishing are the (bugs) Orange Bug, Orange Bomber, Brown and Buck Bugs in various colors. (Fly) Green Highlander, Thunder and Lighting, Blue Charm, Silver Grey, Silver Blue. We are sure that some of your own patterns will be great and we would appreciate if you shared them with us.
A typical day of fishing at the lodge.
